Manuela Kursidem

Opera-agent

Mauela Kursidem was born in Salzburg and studied Law and Theatre Sciences in Vienna.

From 1979 until 1981 she was assistant to Professor Dr. Marcel Prawy, then head of dramaturgy at the Vienna Staatsoper. She was in charge of preparation of publications and productions for television and the performing arts. In 1980 she did a theatre course as a Production Assistant in Vienna. In 1981 she gave assistance and did the organization for a Wiener Festwochen production during the Wiener Festwochen -Erstes Internationales Clowns-Festival under Alf Krauliz Ioan.

From 1981 until 1987 she worked for the Holender theatre agency in Vienna, as an independent organisator. From 1987 until 1991 she worked for Dr. Germinal Hilbert theatre agency in Munich as an Artistic Assistant. She did the coordination of and had the responsibility for ca. 100 opera singers and conductors. In 1990 she was responsible for workshops at the Musikhochschule in Lbeck and at the Jugendfestspieltreffen in Bayreuth on the theme of: the need for financial planning for professional singers, job of the agent in the international music business.

In 1991 she did the Artists Management at the request of the National Institute for Employment Nrnberg, in Munich. In 1992 she was granted an agency licence for Opera and Concerts by the Ministry of Social Affairs in Vienna. She worked in cooperation with Michael Lewin, International Artists Management Concession for Opera & Concert agency from the National Institute in Nrnberg. In 1995 she opened a branch in Berlin.

For many years, Manuela Kursidem returns to Flanders Operastudio every year to give a seminar for aspiring opera and concert singers, and to audition Flanders Operastudio’s singers and pianist-repetiteurs.
